Everest Basecamp – Tingri – Erdbeben

Nachtrag zum Erdbeben: Laut Guide und auch laut anderen Gästen war es ein Beben mit Epizentrum in Sikkim mit der Stärke 6,8 und  ca. 350km Luftlinie von Tingri. Wir haben während des Frühstücks mit einem deutschen Paar am Nachbartisch geredet. Sie wollten eigentlich im Kloster Ronbuk übernachten – dort sei dann am Kloster eine Mauer eingestürzt und auch die umliegenden Hänge seien wohl ins Rutschen geraten. Sie seien dann wieder hoch ins Zeltcamp gefahren, das jedoch aus Angst vor Nachbeben geraeumt wurde. Die meisten Besucher haben sich dann wohl noch in der Nacht im Dunkeln auf den Weg nach Tingri oder Shegar gemacht – sicher eine „traumhafte“ Fahrt von 2-3 Stunden ueber Pisten in der Dunkelheit.  Für uns ist es gluecklicherweise glimpflich abgelaufen – Glück gehabt!

Der heutige ruhige Tag hat uns nach Saga geführt, ein „Truck stop“ auf dem Weg zum Kailash mit Infrastruktur und (hoffentlich) Internetzugang. Wir haben unsere Route erneut etwas geaendert, in groben Zügen: Morgen zum Manasarovar See, danach Kailash Kora (2-3 Tage), danach Guge und Tholing, Tirtapuri (Ruinen, Malereien und heiße Quellen). Danach zurück zum Manasarovar See, wandern am See, zurück über Saga, Shigatse nach Lhasa (3 Tage Fahrt).

Heute war wirklich ein langer und ereignisreicher Tag. Wir sind um 6:30h losgefahren aus Shegar in Richtung Everest Base Camp und Ronbuk Monastery. Kurz nach Start erstmal 20 min Zwangspause – Military Checkpoint, und die schreiben tatsaechlich alle Namen und Passnummern auf (in ein grosses Buch auf Papier, wie zu besten Stasi-Zeiten…)

Nach 3h Fahrt über schotter Pisten und zwei Pässe von über 5000 sind wir dann im Base Camp angekommen. Die letzten 4km kann man mit dem Bus fahren oder laufen, wir sind gegangen das sind dann noch ca. 200hm auf 5200m. Das Base Camp selbst war leer, keine Everest Saison, aber der Blick auf die Nordwand beeindruckend. Wir sind dann wieder runter bis zum Zeltcamp gelaufen, bisschen hin und her, und haben uns entschlossen, dort zu übernachten. Zumindest solange, bis bei Marion die ersten Anzeichen der Hoehe sich bemerkbar machten. Wir sind dann doch noch runtergefahren. Der Sprung von 4200m auf 5200m war dann wohl doch zu hoch und der Wunsch grösser dort zu übernachten. Gegen 20:30h sind wir dann in Tingri auf 4200m angekommen also einen 14,5h Tag hinter uns. Dann sind wir noch schnell in das Restaurant um etwas zu essen, gerade bestellt rennt alles aus dem Lokal und alle Leute werden auf einen freien Platz gebracht – Erdbeben … einige der Tibeter sitzen draußen auf dem Boden und beten. In Lhasa soll das Beben noch stärker gewesen sein. Man weiß nichts genaues. Viel gefährlicher wäre es aber sicher auch gewesen wenn wir bei dem Erdbeben im Everest Base Camp gewesen wären.

Hi, wir haben uns auch etwas Sorgen gemacht wegen des Bebens. Nach unserer diffusen Vorstellung der Entfernungen, müsstet recht weit vom Zentrum aber nah genug um es zu merken gewesen sein.
Gut zu hören, dass es bei euch unbeschadet weiter geht.

mit einiger Verzögerung haben wir am Montag, 19.9. in den Spätnachrichten von dem Erdbeben in Tibet/Indien erfahren. Es gab auch noch Nachbeben; seid ihr davon betroffen gewesen?
Hoffentlich nicht! Auf jeden Fall hoffen wir, daß durch diese Ereignisse eure „Pilgerreise“ nicht zu sehr beeinträchtigt wird.
Eure Blog-Eintragungen lesen wir mit Interesse, vor allem, wie es ist, wenn man sich nur mit Gesten verständigen kann.
Heute findet in Berlin der Papstbesuch statt, er spricht im Bundestag und es wird dagegen demonstriert.

uns ist nichts passiert. An dem Abend hat es einen kraeftigen Ruck gegeben und alle sind nach draussen gerannt. Das Erdbeben hat unsere Tour auch nicht weiter beeintraechtigt.
